If you are reading this, it means you have heard about the Affiliates Fellowship Program 2020.
In this article, we are going to systematically outline the right way to apply for the Affiliates Fellowship Program for interested and qualified applicants.
Scholarship Description
The African Academy of Sciences (AAS) Affiliates Membership Program seeks to stimulate as well as nurture the spirit of technological innovation and scientific discovery in Africa so as to enhance sustainable development on the continent (Africa) via research as well as development. It is envisioned to bridge a gap in the professional growth of young and early-to-mid career professionals who wish to grow into research leaders in their home nations. Many countries and organizations are implementing PhD programs to meet the teaching and research needs of higher education and research institutions. Most of these intellectuals train in well-grounded northern institutions or a very few relatively well set-up African PhD training centers, but when they go back to their home institutions, they encounter weighty challenges in growing as independent thinkers and leaders. Supportive/nurturing research environments and chances that enable them to think up new ideas, knowledge and innovative solutions to Africa’s challenges are quite limited.
While African nations and their sub-regional institutions have the responsibility to bring and retain well- trained researchers, pan-African organizations like the African Academy of Sciences can take up a catalytic and supportive role in inspiring and giving tangible assistance to such cohorts.
What We Expect From the AAS Affiliates
- The African Academy of Sciences Affiliates fulfil the Academy’s vision of transformed lives via sciences in their research as well as leadership excellence.
- They actively contribute to the program activities while also motivating other young researchers to pursue scientific excellence
- The scheme quickens their evolution into independent researchers and promotes their contribution to policy engagement, interdisciplinary collaboration, innovations, research management and mentorship. Inevitably, Affiliates’ professional development contributes to supporting the scientific capacity of their institution solidly.
