With the grant of its Royal Charter, the University of Surrey was founded on 9th September 1966 but its origins date back to a late 19th-century challenge to give greater access to further and higher education for the underprivileged residents of London. Since the University’s founding in the 1960s, and before that at Battersea College, our community has thrived through strong connections and collaboration with the outside world. We have established close partnerships with other institutions as well as other businesses, reaching across geographic confines, and utilized those partnerships to bring potential to life.
